Postdoc Tereza Clarence is first and co-corresponding author on Multiomic single-cell profiling identifies critical regulators of postnatal brain, published in Nature Genetics.
The team measured gene expression and chromatin accessibility in the same 101,924 nuclei. The samples came from four brain regions of ten donors and covered five stages, from infancy to late adulthood. Adding chromosome conformation data, they built enhancer-based gene regulatory networks and used them to read GWAS loci for ten brain disorders. The networks link 2,318 cell-type-specific loci to 1,149 genes, and pseudotime analysis splits postnatal oligodendrocyte development into distinct stages.
